There are two general types of blockchains: Public & Enterprise

Public Blockchains

  • All activity visible to the public
  • Network members can self-identify, but are usually anonymous
  • Network latency does not scale well

Enterprise Blockchains

AKA Private or Permissioned

Enterprise blockchains are for business data and transactions with enterprise-grade security & performance

  • Activity visible by network members only
  • Visible identity of network members
  • Lower network latency
